Mount Clemens Community Center

The Mount Clemens Community Center Ice Arena is home to two NHL regulation ice surfaces, as well as several high school hockey teams. It also hosts several public skate sessions and a 5,800-square-foot lobby. The ice arena is also home to the junior hockey program Metro Jets. The hockey club plans to rebrand as the Jr. Jets, with the goal of making it a competitive program for young people.

Many of the current and former Jets players have risen through the ranks and are playing at higher levels of junior and college hockey. Jon Cooper, who coached the Metro Jets to the 2002 USA Hockey Silver Cup National Junior B Championship, later became head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Other notable alumni include Bronton and Max Hartwell, who played for the Jets from Jr. A to Jr. P levels. Former Jets player Steven Oleksy made his NHL debut in 2013 with the Washington Capitals.

Located in Mt Clemens, MI, the MountClemens Ice Arena is home to the Mount Clemens Hockey Club, multiple high schools and a 501c3 organization. The Metro Jets, a premier junior hockey team, will bring exciting opportunities for local youth to play hockey. Eventually, the club will be rebranded as the Jr. Jets.

The team’s name is also associated with the Metro Jets’ song. In 1894, the team was founded by Hal “Butch” Wolfe and his wife, Mary Kay. The team began playing in the Inkster Ice Arena in Inkster, Michigan, before moving to the Lakeland Arena in Waterford Township.
